Paediatric dentistry

Indulgence for body and mind

A child’s first visit to the dentist is of paramount importance. Indeed, the first introductory visit will allow your child to begin to trust dentists and thus avoid a phobia later on in life. In addition, this consultation has a very important objective : detecting and preventing early cavities, the consequences of which could be dramatic for children. Besides looking for cavities, the dentist will discuss the child’s eating habits, explain dental hygiene to them and advise them on a brushing technique that is suitable for the child’s habits.

Ideally, the first visit to the dentist should be at around 3 years of age. This first trip will allow the child to discover the dental practice in a relaxed way. Unfortunately, the first visit to the dentist is often traumatic for a child and linked to the arrival of sudden pain or a trauma such as a fall at school. This emergency appointment is not ideal for a first approach as the child will inevitably negatively associate it with his or her dentist.

At the iDent dental and orthodontics clinic, our generalist dentist, Quentin Dasnoy, has undergone extra training in paediatric dentistry and dental prostheses. Between 2014 and 2016 he worked in the paediatric dentistry department at Queen Fabiola Children’s Hospital (HUDERF) in the Jette area of Brussels. This rewarding training allowed him to learn specific treatment techniques for children and adopt a more targeted and personalised psychological approach.

Our orthodontist, Varsik Hakopian, will be responsible for diagnosing any abnormalities related to early malocclusions and jaw misalignment, enabling the preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatment to be set up. These treatments will in many cases prevent your child having to have dental surgery in the future.

This dentist-orthodontist combination allows our practitioners to provide a multidisciplinary approach and coordinate your child’s treatment well.
